"We chose Joy Developments for our summer 2016 remodel after meeting & getting quotes from Patrick and 3 other companies. Patrick's quote was not the cheapest, but it wasn't the most expensive, either. We chose Patrick based on a gut feeling after meeting and talking with everyone - it was apparent from day one that Patrick was honest, hard working, no-bullshit, with a good eye for detail, and who valued us as customers and maybe one day as people he'd run into at the grocery store.

At the time we got contractor quotes, we already had plans in hand for remodeling our kitchen, two bathrooms, and flooring elsewhere in the house - ripping out everything down to studs, moving a couple walls, and changing/adding new electrical. Patrick asked great questions (who's getting the permits? do you want the texture on the walls to match the other rooms, or do you want smooth?) and made great suggestions for things we hadn't yet considered that really improved the quality and function of the finished space. We felt sure that he took the time to understand our project and our needs in order to provide us the best possible quote. Sure enough, he performed all the work up to a high quality standard, and never charged us a penny over more than what he quoted. A couple times we decided to add something new to the scope, and he was totally fair about telling us what the price would be and why - we never felt like he was charging us extra at the back end to make up for losses elsewhere.

Once his flooring subcontractor came in and accidentally installed the tile by the fireplace facing the wrong direction (we chose a tile with a directional line pattern). He came in the next day, saw it, and gave us a call to let us know that he was bringing the subcontractor back to fix it at his own cost. Any time he noticed something that wasn't done up to his standards or to our plans, he made sure to make it right without making it our problem. I really, really appreciated that, especially because we were gone for several weeks during the remodel and couldn't check in on progress.

He was great at communication throughout the whole process, and asked questions regularly to make sure that we were getting exactly what we wanted. He and his crew really met and exceeded our expectations in every way. As an example, we live in a condo building. He not only dust protected and cleaned up our unit daily throughout demo, but he also lined the common area hall with paper to protect it from dust every day. Our neighbors were so impressed with him that several of them have used them for their own projects, and routinely raved to me about the quality of his work, his ability to do it on time, and how fair his prices were. It's been a year since the remodel and all of his work has held up with no issues, and I *almost* wish we had more work to do so I would have an excuse to hire him again. Since I don't, do us all a solid and hire him for your next project instead."

We wanted a carport that looked modern, but not out of place with the existing home and neighborhood. The result was a seamless addition that functions well and looks stunning. It was a pleasure working with Patrick to design the carport. He has the uncanny ability to transform about three Pinterest photos and a few bullet points into a full vision, and it was just brilliant to see that vision come to life. Patrick and his team worked efficiently through the demo and construction process, and the carport was done in almost no time. We had a minor issue with a malfunctioning lock on the new gate, and Patrick was out within days to assess it and order a new lock.
